Mensaje de la OSPAAAL, 18 de diciembre de 2014
La
Organización de Solidaridad de los Pueblos de África, Asia y América
Latina (OSPAAAL) ha acogido con emocionados sentimientos revolucionarios
la noticia divulgada simultáneamente ayer por los Presidentes de la
República de Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, y de los Estados Unidos de América,
Barack Obama, relativa al restablecimiento de las relaciones
diplomáticas entre ambos países después de más de medio siglo de
manifiesta hostilidad y errada política por parte de las sucesivas
administraciones norteamericanas contra Cuba.
El
Gobierno cubano había expresado reiteradamente la voluntad de sostener
un diálogo respetuoso, basado en la igualdad soberana, con el objetivo
de tratar los más diversos temas de recíproco interés, sin menoscabo de
la independencia nacional y la autodeterminación del pueblo de Cuba. La
decisión del actual Presidente de los Estados Unidos de América
constituye un hecho inédito y valiente.
Este
acontecimiento, resultante de la invencible resistencia de Cuba y su
Revolución, evidencia el éxito de una política exterior consecuente y
apegada a los principios; reafirma que se puede convivir, de forma
civilizada, a pesar de las diferencias; abre posibilidades aún mayores
para seguir avanzando en la unidad e integración de los pueblos de
Nuestra América.
Un
primer paso ineludible de la mejor fe en dirección a la normalización
de las relaciones bilaterales entre Cuba y Estados Unidos ha motivado
mayúscula alegría entre los militantes de la solidaridad tricontinental
que hemos acompañado al pueblo cubano en su persistente reclamo: el
regreso victorioso a la Patria --como lo prometió Fidel-- de los héroes
antiterroristas Antonio, Gerardo y Ramón quienes, a partir de este
histórico día 17 de diciembre de 2014, se unen a sus hermanos René y
Fernando, para completar la anhelada estrella de Los Cinco en plena
libertad.
El
criminal bloqueo económico, comercial y financiero de los Estados
Unidos contra Cuba debe cesar de inmediato. Esta y muchas otras
batallas nos restan por librar juntos para que puedan triunfar la
justicia y la esperanza de un mundo mejor para todos, de las cuales los
Cinco Héroes cubanos serán comprometidos abanderados.
En
su nombre, en el de sus familiares, en el de la OSPAAAL, y en el de
todo el pueblo de Cuba les extendemos a gobiernos, parlamentos,
instituciones, comités, a amigos, personalidades, compañeros y hermanos
de las más remotas latitudes del planeta nuestras más sinceras gracias,
infinitas gracias por su solidaridad permanente, por todos los empeños e
iniciativas, por la sensibilidad y el humanismo de tantas muestras de
acompañamiento y compromiso sostenidas a lo largo de 16 años para
quebrar la maldad de su injusto encierro.
Han triunfado la firmeza, la verdad y la solidaridad. Es un día memorable para Cuba y para todos los pueblos del mundo.

A MEMORABLE DAY FOR CUBA AND THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD
Message from OSPAAAL, December 18, 2014
The
Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin
America (OSPAAAL) has received with deeply moved revolutionary feelings
the news simultaneously released yesterday by the presidents of the
Republic of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, and of the United States of America,
Barack Obama, in connection with the renewal of diplomatic relations
between both countries after more than half a century of open hostility
and mistaken policy against Cuba on the part of successive U.S.
administrations.
The
Cuban government had repeatedly expressed the will to hold a respectful
dialogue based on the sovereign equality, with the purpose of
discussing the most diverse topics of mutual interest, without lessening
the national independence and self-determination of the people of Cuba.
The decision taken by the President of the United States of America is a
unique and courageous action.
This
event, a result of the unconquerable resistance of Cuba and its
Revolution, evidences the success of a consequent foreign policy
faithful to its principles; it reaffirms that it is possible to coexist
in civilized form despite the differences; it opens even greater
possibilities to keep advancing in the unity and integration of the
peoples of Our America.
An
unavoidable initial step in the best faith in the direction of the
normalization of bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States
has originated immense happiness among the militants of the
tricontinental solidarity that have accompanied the Cuban people in its
persistent demand: the victorious return to the Fatherland --as promised
by Fidel-- of the anti-terrorist heroes Antonio, Gerardo and Ramón, who
from this historical December 17, 2014 join their brothers René and
Fernando to complete the longed-for star of the Five in full freedom.
The
criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United
States against Cuba must stop immediately. We must still fight together
this battle and many others so that justice and the hope of a better
world for all may triumph, of which the Five Cuban Heroes will be
committed champions.
On
their behalf, on behalf of their relatives, on behalf of OSPAAAL and of
the entire Cuban people, we convey our most sincere gratefulness,
infinite thankfulness to governments, parliaments, institutions,
committees, friends, personalities, comrades and brothers and sisters
from the remotest latitudes of the planet for their efforts and
initiatives, for the sensibility and humanism of so many expressions of
sustained support and commitment throughout 16 years to break the evil
of their unfair incarceration.
It has been a victory of firmness, truth and solidarity. It is a memorable day for Cuba and for all the peoples of the world.
